What better to do on a snow day then make sweater gloves!
I found the idea on Pinterest which directed me to a great blog- "A Beautiful Mess" by Elsie and Emma
To start I purchased a sweater from the Goodwill because I didn't have a sweater I was willing to cut up. But if you have a sweater laying around that doesn't fit, is stained, or even better that had shrunk or felted in the dryer thats perfect!
I then flipped the sweater inside out and used a marker to trace my hands. Don't worry about the marker line because this will not show when you flip them inside out. Make sure to leave enough room for seam allowance when your sew them and leave enough room between your hand and thumb.
I then pinned the sweater because I wanted to cut through the front and back together.
I cannot use a sewing machine and tend to break them if I touch them. Sooooo I had started out hand sewing around the glove which was taking forever so my lovely mother assisted me with sewing it quickly on the machine. You can cut excess material if there is a lot. Flip them inside out so the right side is showing and your gloves are done!
If you want to be crafty and go a little further you can add embelishments like flowers
or Gold Buttons
or fun antique buttons
or anything you have hanging around.
